Hi,
I have a Ceriatone FM100 with Clator. I found a Nice OD sound, but I keep wanting to turn on brightness on the amp for cleans. Is there a way to make this standard (bright on on the clean channel, off on the OD channel?
Thanks

Here's what I do. This shows a defeat for the V1b negative feedback loop but you can ignore that part. You need an on-off-on mini switch and you'll need to add a relay to the OD circuit. I wire both relays in parallel with the coil negatives tied together and only use one flyback diode. It isn't that much different if you want dedicated bright clean and off in OD mode.
It works great and won't require any extra holes in the chassis. One caveat; you are taking a run from what is usually a shielded cable between volume 2 and the grid stopper on V1b. I suggest you use another piece of shielded cable to go to the relay as well. Use the same shield ground for the circuit.
Good luck! Skip

This is probably similar to what Luthierwnc is doing.
Here is what I did, it's called the bright on clean only mod.
I use the existing bright switch hole and install a on-off-on switch.
You do have to add another relay for this to work.
The new relay only comes on when the OD relay is energized.
I like a 120pf mica in my amp.

I like stack lift (180k) for PAB instead of the separation of Treble and Bass potentiometers. The stack lift method only requires a SPST so on the typical DPDT relay you will have a set of unused contacts. You can use those contacts to interrupt the bright switch. So you can have bright until you step on boost.

Interesting.
I don't find I like using PAB unless I'm using OD.
More for a solo boost or more sustain.
Strange in my amp that in the clean mode the PAB is a huge volume boost while in OD it is just about right.
I still have the stock 22M resistors on PAB.
I do like the bright on clean at lower volumes so the bright on clean relay really works well for me.

I like PAB in clean and OD mode. Tom, I agree, the boost is larger in clean mode. I make sure to ride the guitar volume.
I have thought about the clean relay thing for the bright cap, but I haven't done it because I find that I also like clean without bright. I also like OD with bright at times too. OD with bright is great for some Hendrix type sounds with a Strat. I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to limit my options, so I put OD/clean, bright, and mid boost on a footswitch. Works great, but I know that many guys prefer bright in clean mode only. Just some thoughts.

With that circuit I posted you can have bright off, bright on both clean and OD and bright on clean only.
