AC15 build started
So I started building Sluckeys version of the AC15. I ordered the board parts, cut/drilled/pressed turrets. I wired mains on its board minus flying leads and will start to populate the other board today. I shorted my turret count so Im waiting for those plus .1uf caps I forgot. Here are some pics that I posted on my other forum at BYOC.[IMG768]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/008C8087-AF96-4D7F-BF30-310AF9FD8799_zpspkdw4gei.jpg[/img][IMG768]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/FFD58284-6286-46A9-891B-C172BE539A00_zpsnnymz4gz.jpg[/img][IMG768]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/4D735D93-5E3A-4878-8AC3-F792E6DEF77E_zps9oxuh9qz.jpg[/img][IMG768]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/C9298B6B-9CB3-43A5-9FFC-9DEA09D8E509_zps1d12inv0.jpg[/img][IMG768]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/513154EE-27E2-426E-8428-AF6CC8CCF6EF_zpsm6mrzn9y.jpg[/img][IMG:640:480]http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j72/legomaniac4040/Mobile%20Uploads/55840D3D-745E-4084-8EC3-0893152F07E2_zpsudaktity.jpg[/img]For those of you that have and will offer help, Thank You.
Im no where near done but looking foward to building a TrainWreck Express and would love a link to the MOST updated layout/schematic

Re: AC15 build started
Holy crap there are a lot of turrets in one of these builds.
Re: AC15 build started
Aside from a main cap board the AC15 has TWO full boards Sluckey put this together and squeezed into one thankfully.

Re: AC15 build started
Keep at it Lionel. I plan to look back on this thread, and the one at BYOC, when I build it at some point.
I'm letting you vet out all the frustration first

This is gonna be a challange for me when It comes times to solder
Re: AC15 build started
This is fun to follow, very nice so far, please don't drop it. Curious why you mixed brown Xicons and 150s, just what you had, tight space, tone fine tuning?
I thought this was going into a Marshall chassis, I would have expected upright can caps, where does the doghouse board go in this, or is it for a fender BF style chassis?

Re: AC15 build started
The Xicons were used because of tight space, it was designed to go in a 17" chassis but a 20" was recommended for extra room. No dog house I think, I will have to mock up and see if I can get it inside. The usage of top mounted transformers will give me a ton more room inside. There is one Mallory on the bottom just left of the Xicon I want to change too, I don't like the way I had to bend the leads. I'm taking it slow, I must've traced components ten times everyday to make sure I haven't forgotten something. Next purchase is gonna be a biggy, chassis and head along with all other parts
Re: AC15 build started
Major Cash spent on parts today. I ordered my 20x6.5x2.5 chassis and cover. Sockets,fuseholder,lamp,nuts/bolts,grommets.........AND my complete tube set of JJ's for the build

Im in limbo waiting for chassis and all the other parts with a couple on back order. No choice a cab yet.
Re: AC15 build started
Nice. Lots of components per real estate there! I'd expect to see a lot of jumper wires underneath, but this layout is cleverly thought out. Kudos to Sluckey or whomever designed the layout. Hopefully it won't oscillate when you crank the treble...

Dang Steve, you made that process look easy. I've been following at Hoffman every step of the way.sluckey wrote:Mine is done. And it works great. Here's a link to my project...
