Post by stretch2011 »

Anybody have a referred finger joint jig? I have a router and table saw so I can go either way.

I prefer a template type jig.

A step type jig can accumulate error over a long joint.

I use the Leigh 24", got it used for about 250.

You can of course do them with a backsaw too.

I'm decent enough with handsaws. But for real precision I'm sloppy. That's why I only mentioned table or router. Thanks I'll check it out.

The sled type for a table saw with the index pin seems to be what a lot of guys use.
Uses a dado blade.

Or you could always do it by hand. :D

Not in the league of a Leigh...this sort of template is screwed onto a block of wood and then the workpiece is clamped to it. You can easily shift and realign it properly for more cuts. Doesn't cost like a Leigh, either. I think it depends if for hobby or professional production.

Yea I seen that last one. I also seen a router table one that slips the first cut over a block then the next and so on so they are spaced the same. Iys on eBay for $90. Looks pretty good I watched a guy make some super tight fingers

If this is what you're talking about, it's $60 direct from Rockler. This isn't the first time I've seen eBait higher than retail. Always verify that.

This is one clever table jig.

I use a homemade sled pin jig like structo describes. I cut both pieces of a joint at the same time so they always fit. Cut a pair of test pieces first to get the right dado spacers in place and the depth set and then you're off to the races...http://www.finewoodworking.com/workshop ... oints.aspx

Looks good and easily adaptable to a router table. 2 questions. What's the front panel for other than a shield, it looks like it's just screwed in place up front. 2nd is how do you cut 2 pieces at the same time? I have a pretty good idea just want to make sure
