Princeton Build

Post by fusionbear »

A friend of mine asked me to build him a Princeton Reverb. This has to be my all-time favorite Fender clean tone. I think it has to do with the cathodyne phase inverter. Just love how this amp sounds...

The amp is quiet as a church mouse. It has to be as my friend intends to use it his church. He's in the church band...

Great job! The Princeton has to be one of my favorites in the Fender family as well.

Wait a minnit, Carl...you can do Fender amps, too? Crazy!

Just kidding. Was thinking about you while building my JCM800-in-a-Macinsosh.

Its funny, I have worked on more Fender amps than anything, even have certification.... But, somehow everyone pigeonholes me as a "Marshall Guy"... I don't mind though....

Better work than anything Fender's done in 45 years.

BTW what is that big white filter cap (seen on the photobucket shots)?

What speaker did you go with?

Just a Weber multi can cap: 20/20/20/20

Speaker was one discovered by Tyler Amps. It is a Jensen Jet Electric Lightning. It sounds really great with Fender voiced amps...

I love that circuit. (Nice build, too!) And yes, there are some great sounding Italian Jensens. Just not all of them.

Love the circuit. Built one with 6V6s and one with 6L6s. The one I use a lot has the 6L6 conversion. Allen iron.

I imagine you have a happy customer by the looks of your build.

Hope some of you might give me some feedback. I really am willing to learn if this amp didn't make the grade...

A cathodyne PI is far from being the cleanest you could use!

Sounds good, and the build is very tidy inside and out. PR is a little less famous than some others, but an iconic Fender sound for sure.
