Luxman Hifi schematics

Post by jelle »

Hi there, I am looking for Luxman integrated amplifier schematics. Yes, I know this is HiFi stuff. Does anyone here have anything they can share?

Thanks!

Thanks for that. I forgot to add.... *tube* based units. I am particularly interested in the sq38 types with octal power tubes.

Pretty sure they still exist, not sure that helps, but can you write Japanese?

I don't know if it's applicable to the unit you're working on - in their tube mono power amps Lux had some specially made & numbered octal output tubes of course long since nonobtainium. I subbed KT88s & set a reasonable bias level in a couple I had to fix, worked just fine. Tall 9-pin driver tubes too, dual triode. Got word from the factory they were 6FQ7 equivalents.
down technical blind alleys . . .

The idea is to learn from the designs so I can whip up a tube integrated amplifier for my living room. KT88s would be great, yes! I am especially curious about the Luxman tone controls in the tube amps.

The JBL L80T speakers have been upgraded with new crossovers. Charge coupled design, based off the 4410 design. See picture. Big improvement in imaging.

Currently these speakers are used with a Luxman L-2, a solid state amplifier, and I like it a lot. A tube version has to be better, right? :D

I was pretty sure I'd seen current production stuff around. Lovely equipment, really expensive - investment banker bonus market. Their shtick is that they always kept the '60s-'70s American classy look with the useless filter switches and big power meters, like McIntosh. There's probably better stuff for less out there but when you're having $400 wines and Cuban cigars in the man cave the Luxman should impress.

Write to them, tell them your second hand integrated is acting wanky, your a prof repair tech and you need a schemo. Maybe the'll be nice about it.

If you're trying to clone the complete amp, those transformers may prove tricky....
Same story as with the old McIntosh amps....

It depends on the model, some OPTs are just plain UL, but the sought after models have McIntosh unity couple style OPTs with bi-filer or tri-filer windings.
