Some technical things you might watch: the sensitivity (dbs), drives me kind of nuts when there is too big a mismatch, sounds like the sound is coming all out of one side. This only matters to you if up close however, audience won't hear it. Impedance should really match. Rating too, otherwise consider the lower rating your max.

Have done this several times and you can get a wider frequency response which is nice. Have used 12's and 8's together and 12 & 10. No problems.

A popular mix from Avatar is Vintage 30 and G12H30. I just loaded a Sunn 2x12 cab with a Heritage G12H(75) on top and a Heritage G12H(55) on bottom. I really like this combo.

Mixing is magic! I have Golds, V30s, and Creambacks that I plan on experimenting with when I have time. I also have 2 - 2x12 cabinets I built, one loaded with Golds and one with G12M-Greenbacks. When I run both from the same HayMaker, it sounds fantastic. I do have a sensitivity mismatch problem, so the Golds tend to dominate up close.
