One time when I opened for John Cipollina he told me about how he used Hoppes gun cleaner to clean his guitars and strings, that tip saved me many times when I didn't have $ for new strings, you won't believe the gunk that comes off and the feel of the neck afterwards.

Don't ever put that on nitro lacquer.

Ditto that Finger Ease spray stuff. Get even a tiny bit of overspray on a wood floor, and it's like you have an ice patch.
