bassman 50 as donor chasis for cieratone dumble clone build

Post by andresound »

Hi Guys,
New to this part of the forum (dumble thread). Built an Express clone amp (posted in the TW thread section) and I am extremely happy. Sounds better everyday.!!!
I have aquired a Bassman SF export model (50w). Sounds OK. I would like to build a Dumble ODS clone using the above donor chassis. Is this possible using the existing set of "old Iron".?? Including choke.
Should I follow the Cieratone site layout and order the parts from wherever (rj maybe)?
Some advise would be appreciated.

Very do-able. The question is, is the Bassman worth more as it is? I suspect there aren't too many of them in SA.

unfortunately the unit was not well looked after and a poor tech has blackfaced it and recapped.

Been reading on TAG and have seen that Ceriatone have not "done the right thing" with regards to R&D and stealing ideas from this great forum.
I therefore would like to take the route of NOT using any of their services, layout etc.

Suggestions please. Where do i stasrt looking? Remember, I am a NOVICE. Have only done one build. And all the credit goes to the TAG team!!

I would start by listening to the video/sound reference at the top. Pretty much every generation of the ODS is there.
In the files section there are layouts and schematics for various ODS's.
Then spend the rest of your life tweaking it :D
What style of music do you play?

Cheers,
Aaron

Will do. Have already started my research.

Used to play funk/fusion stuff (AWB, B.Scaggs, Micheal franks etc.). I grew up on rock al la Lynyrd Synyrd!!

Can I use the PT, OT and Choke from the Bassman?

because i decided to NOT build Cieratone clone. I have started another thread of the build, which will be a #40 circuit 2nd gen with buillt in active dumblelator in the same chasis. Parts should be collected within 6 weeks.

Oh year, I read your posting about the pots from the amp.

Sounds like a great project. :-)

Cant wait. The help and knowledge on TAG is simply world class. :D Not some of the best builders, but THE BEST builders and and minds in the world. Truly blessed to have stumbled on this forum. As stated, my TW express (first and only ever build), turned out to be the best amp I have ever played, and just keeps getting better!!

Have a LONG journey ahead in my new hobby and a lot to learn. Yet, have NEVER had a condescending comment from a member. Only encouraging words!!

Truly inspiring. LONG LIVE TAG!!!
