Whulp, tried the lower slope resistor (with pot...all the way to 10R!) and didn't care for that change. Also tried the "classic" stack, also not impressed. Best mod is just change the tail from 10K to 27K. I'm sure a lot of this is dependent on what sounds good with the Celestion V-Type speaker, but this also sounds good with my 2x10 and 2x12 cabs.

Have played it twice at gigs now. Enjoying it very much. Reasonable weight, great sound.

My take is that as the slope resistor value is increased, the bass and mid shelves will become more attenuated WRT the treble shelf.M Fowler wrote:That 150k slope resistor allows a lot mids I would decrease that for better tone

Did you use the zener back-bias circuit or a zener on the HT?

I used Aiken's MOSFET B+ reducer. I love it. I can make one from scratch is 30 minutes, with $5 in parts. Here's the MOSFET. I have documented the build elsewhere.

For $3.79! Hope that provides a little margin for error.pdf64 wrote:190 watt dissipation - wow!

Re: Monkeymatic NDS
Yes, but for the device to actually dissipate 190 watts without burning up, it will need a WAY HUGE heatsink.

Re: Monkeymatic NDS
I opened this amp a couple of weeks ago and noticed (remembered!) it had an unused 5v winding, so I put in Lou's awesome reverb board and PSU, with some expert help from Lou finding the right insert point and mixing resistors.
Came out great! Depth and Tone controls are very useful, and the Depth goes from very short, like 0.75s, to cavernous.
Received the faceplate from indcom.graphics, so she's ready to find a human who loves her.
