Tube Bias while using VVR

Post by andresound »

This may be a stupid question.... If it is, I am sorry

When running a VVR, should I not bias my tubes hotter? In reality, during actual playing conditions (VVR reducing B+), the tubes would be operating too cold??

Should I calculate the bias with the VVR adjusted voltages?

Critical question: fixed or cathode biased?

If cathode, no worries. The whole system (except heaters which are not scaled) scales organically--relative bias is maintained.

For fixed bias, the bias voltage should also vary--the London Power circuit scales the bias voltage also. I have never installed VVR for fixed bias, so I'm just repeating what I've read.

Fixed Bias. Come to think of it, I believe the HALL VVR3 adjusts bias while scaling???? If so, just another stupid post

I need to think and research before posting!! :?
