PRivera era Super Champ
A buddy dropped this little amp off and said it wasnt working well.I swaped out a tube and was blown away by this little amp.Lots of push pull options.Tons of gain with the master, reverb, treble boost. Its like a little boogie.Heavey little sucker.Hand wired.I think this is the coolest little monster Ive seen from fender.I would love to offer to purchace but death by wife would follow quickly. If you ever see one on the cheap ,grab it .You wont be dissapointed http://faithamps.weebly.com/ http://faithamps.weebly.com/

Having been on the edge of it at the time, PR was making 'suggestions' to Ed Jahns about most of those amps, but he designed the Super Champ himself. It became a staple for LA studio musicians...now think about how many LA studio guitarists there were...sold 30 or so amps. Nobody was getting rich. A handful of lucky people tried them out in stores and bought them. There are very few in the boogie style cab, to go around.

If that's the model with one 6l6 output take note, there is a resistor in the power supply string ( the first one I think) that is 1/4 watt and it burns up a lot as it needs to be 1/2 watt!
A very bad design oversite!

Sorry my kid got my camera.I got this thing working well.It had to be the most labor intensive for fender,The amp is heavey too.Heavey iron.Cool drive and the clean side takes pedals. At the end of the day its small .Great little amp to play at practice or a church.I think he was trying to catch a mesa flavor back then.

I dont know this is 6V6 and the rectifier tube is about 1 inch long and fat like a power tube.He got this amp from a friend for 125.00 back in the day.I got my 100 watt 69 supertrem for 75.00 back so Im thankfull I got one classic real cheap. After the internet all bets were off for cheap gear.

This is the schematic. The fat tube is a 6C10 triple triode. The amp uses a bridge rectifier and push/pull 6V6s.

Any way you could get a chassis layout,I would love to try to build one.I have a Diax P 20 which is aweful close in many respects.Make me wander if Ceasare got some ideas for that amp.I think I actually like the fender better.I gave it back yesterday.Fixed the pilot light and a new driver tube.Clean the pots.I could not build off a schematic, wish I could, but thank you for that info.
