Last year I bought two Fender Blues Jr. empty combo cabs for cheap, no chassis so I had some made to fit.
Punched the chassis for a pair of EL84's and two 12AX7 preamp tubes.
Using Marshall type 18w transformers.
Wired it up today and fired her up just a few minutes ago so will have to wait until tomorrow to power test this amp.
I'm getting my projects done finally.

Re: 18w Blues Jr upcycle
looks great Mark.
I noticed you are using a different kind of board turrets, do you like them?
also where do you get your faceplate material?
like Jazz said
Are you doing 1 amp a day, before the end of the year?
Awesome stuff Mark....Have a good holiday....cheers
oh....stock up on the important stuff, booze, transformers etc...
we are supposed to get a blizzard on Christmas day up here

Re: 18w Blues Jr upcycle
I keep a good variety of different boards or material on hand. I found some more insolated stud turrets that have 4-40 bolt in bottom I like to use them for screen/grid resistors on the power tubes, on the V1 grid resistor from input jack or where ever I may have forgotten to put a turret or eyelet.
Before I retired I bought up a bunch of compoents, chassis and transformers plus have been given a lot as well.
I start an amp then get side tracked by local musicians or repairs. I stopped taking in repairs unless they are classic Fender, cool old tube amps or my own amps.
I had two dogs one died several years ago and the last one died recently so I no longer am a caregiver to my old friend so I have more time on my hands.
Keeping busy seems to help my arthritis and nerve pain so I am busy.
The faceplate on this one I designed in Front Panel Designer, it is anodized aluminum milled and some times I order white enfill other times I leave the milling bare so just raw aluminum look.

Re: 18w Blues Jr upcycle
The stock Blues jr has side mouting holes in the cab to the stock chassis, well I forgot to add those mounts when I order my chassis.
Used some connector covers from Hammond organ amps, one on each side with steel rivnut for 10-24 bolts. Same for top mounts.
WGS Veteran 30 speaker.
Had to pull old tolex off and flip the back board over since I failed to pay attention which side I should have designed the PT to be on.

Thanks guys it was a fun project but could have been engineered better.
I have one more recycled combo cab and that one is going to be a pair of 6V6 power tubes in that amp.

330K/330k with 100K/100K/50pf fizz cap in PI 1k5 grid works fine.
Screens had wrong value resistors no wonder it sounded anemic, now 100R/5W.
Need to complete voltage chart.
