Whitehorse
Canadian band
Some of it is unapologetic pop. Some folk, some twang, some rock/indie, some blues.

Glad you agree and enjoy.

Well, not listening now, but the sound is still going on in my head. Took the wife to Syracuse last night to see Joe Satriani's G3 Tour at the Landmark Theatre (pretty cool place in its own right).
Satch was of course absolutely flash. Played a song off his new CD - Cherry Blossom. Pretty cool song. Played several tunes from Surfing with the Alien. His body of work is so vast it is impossible for him to include something from every release, but I was disappointed he didn't morph into Flying in a Blue Dream. Still a very good performance.
John Petrucci & Co. put on a very good show - even with out Portnoy. I absolutely love his tone, phrasing, etc. Interesting videos in the background during his set too, especially their tune Damage Control. I would have gone just to see his set alone. I kid you not, if you need a break during the show, do not miss Petrucci' set - hold it for later.
The Phil Collen set - meh - I could have done without it. Frankly I think his amplifier sucked. Some sort of Blackstar head thing & several 2x12" cabs. Had absolutely no bottom end, and the high end was obnoxious and fatiguing, grating - almost the electric guitar equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard - only way I can describe it. Drummer was struggling - it seemed the sticks were pulling his arms instead of the other way around. They did pull off an excellent cover of Deep Purple's Mistreated.
Overall great show, Petrucci's set alone is well worth the price of admission, plush you get to see Satch!. If you get a chance do not pass up. And if you are a little late you won't have missed anything .

There is a documentary about Paul Pena called "Genghis Blues" which I recommend.
Looks like Lyle Brewer playing the SG in Ryan's band, a fab Boston based musician.

One of my friends actually knew Paul Pena and told me about that video when it came out, had to see it. Loved it, especially the Tuvan Throat Singing.

Just watched the Eric Clapton documentary. Life in 12 Bars. Has some nice footage of him hanging out with Jimi Hendrix. Great music throughout the documentary. Lots of great footage of Cream , Rolling Stones and Beatles as well. The stock footage might even be from Eric's personal video collection I heard. It was great hearing Bell Bottom Blues!
