Hi Erwin
Can I ask which schematic you have worked from? I have not had much success finding a reliable one.
Cheers

Re: Dirty Harry build
There are a lot of schem out there, my biggest point was: choosing between the 0.002uF vs. 0.02uF on the first stage. Other than that: parts that were in my drawer. F.e. I hadn't any 0.68uF for the cathodes but plenty of 1uF.
I basically used the Yeti layout as it is more mid focused if understand correctly.
Things that are different:
power supply, bias, and grounding points. Tube v1 and 2 are grounded near the input jack and the pi is grounded at the fx loop jack. Same thing with the Ps filtering.. So basically a Dumble grounding scheme which also has a good influence on how it sounds.
All the film.caps are positioned with outer layer to lowest impedance. This is very noticable with orange drops. Bass response is tight and no high frequency anomalies.
The 1813 that is in the cathode follower section is not positioned as I couldn't find a outer layer with my scope.

It really is a incredible sounding amp, and triggers some new ideas for a next build.norburybrook wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 3:24 pm sounds really good Erwin. Nice high gain tones indeed

Below a pic of the amp in temporary housing and a last vid.

Re: Dirty Harry build
I really like that Erwin. I'm missing a high gain amp like that in my palate. I'm going to build a Soldano with the help of Alexander here on the forum so I'm hoping the lead channel will give me a good high gain tone like this.
Congrats on a great build
Snakeskin.... my last 2 builds have been snakeskin....

Hello Erwin,
What a beauty! that amp you build!
It sounds as good as it looks. What guitar did you use in the video?

Re: Dirty Harry build
Thanks! First vid was a ES335, 2nd vid a De Gier Volt Reverse.
I dont have it anymore, it's now owned by a friend of mine. As soon as I have a new chassis I'll make another one with channel switching.

Re: Dirty Harry build
Really liked the first one, with the ES335. Just really special that that guitar does so many things. I am in doubt to maybe shell out some cash for one of these.
I am lookin forward to your next build! The Dirty Harry theme is right op my alley. Who created this for you? I take it that you designed it yourself.
At this time I am in the process of making a 2204 JCM800. For my this is a journey that will hopefully teach me a lot.
I am planning to post my progress later on.

Re: Dirty Harry build
Yeah the 335 is very nice! Dirty Harry theme is my design and then TubeTown made the faceplate on a material called: transply. This is a 2 layer material. The upper layer is lasered so the underlying layer gets visible with a different color. All kinds of color combinations are possible. Great stuff and not too expensive.kuDo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 11:14 am Really liked the first one, with the ES335. Just really special that that guitar does so many things. Erwin,
Glad you've put Covid behind you
Did you use DC heaters for this amp?
