#183 build attempt

After years of wanting one of these I took a swing at building a #183. Somewhat exhausting this was a bit of work.

Stainless steel chassis, black anodized CNC machined/engraved panels.

First gut shot, fairly standard components PEC pots, Micalex sockets, 10k hour filter caps.

I decided to try these film and Tin foil caps, those large aluminum mothers.

There was a lot crammed into this end of the amp, I used some solid wire to get control over the wiring hairball.

The company in NH who made the chassis for me did an incredible job, check out those fully welded corners.

Thanks everyone, this was attempt #2. On my first attempt I ran into a number of frustrations during the build. For #2 I changed the order of the build, building in layers, revises some boards, added more mini turret boards and a new board for those 3 toggle switches which was a hairball of components and wires on #1.

Yes, exactly. Dumble builds are very labor intensive and the build order of layering things from the chassis deck up must be observed, otherwise there is rework accompanied with a lot of swearing. The neater and more stark they appear, the greater the effort that goes into it! I am gearing up for another 102 build myself.

Irritated with off the shelf coax choices (even the Mogami at TubeDepot) I made my own. Neoprene heat shrink over braided shield tube over 24awg PTFE silver plated wire.
