Dual Showman Reverb Head Cabinet with 2 x 8" Speakers inside, possible?

Post by cs1botasky »

Hello guys, do you think it's possible to retain an original Silverface Dual Showman Reverb chassis in it's own head cab and then install 2 x 8" speakers inside the head cabinet to convert the head into a combo?

I have heard Steve Kimock did something similar but he swapped the original Dual Showman Reverb Chassis with a Twin Reverb chassis. I just don't know if it can be done if retaining the Dual Showman Chassis.

Just thinking it will be real cool to have a Dual Showman Reverb in a very manageable and portable size.

Thanks much for your help!

Yes. I did that, and likely posted photos here. I can look later.

Why such a high wattage amp to just drive two 8” speakers?

Why not a Bandmaster reverb?

It was just a novelty to have speakers in the head cabinet. It's so huge, why not?

I just love the huge sound of the Dual Showman Reverb, and thinking it will be ultra cool to make it portable.

Imagine a (relatively) small package can make such huge sounding cleans and can be lugged around, wouldn't it be super cool? :)

A big part of the Dual Showman Reverb sound is the huge speaker cabs. It's not gonna be so huge sounding driving 2 x 8.

No, certainly not huge. But it sounded fine for practicing, and the Jensen speakers stood up to high volumes.
