#183 bass pot

Post by grtamp »

Hi, can I use 500K for bass pot in the #183?
I can see 300k, but is not a standard value.

Thanks

I use these 300k pots on guitars https://amzn.to/3yOC49X and you can slip on one of these adapters https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products ... t-shaft-14

another thing you can do is use a 500k potentiometer and add a resistor across legs 1 and 3. 820k ohm would be good to get you ~311k

Last thing is see if any of these will work https://www.mouser.com/c/passive-compon ... 00%20kOhms

Let us know what direction you go!

I used Alpha pots that measured low. I think if you get around 350K to 400K you should be good.

Careful with those Bourns pots. I tried them once and they ALL measured unacceptably low. I go the 500k/820k strapped route.

Great!
I would try and see if you have something a little bigger. I tried a 310K but preferred one around 350K.
BTW, I think the 311K from Shad was an incorrect reading as it may have been in circuit.
