My friend wants me to build him a high gain single channel dual el84 amp.
I will use standard 18 watt iron
Any body have some suggestions for designs i should check out?
Has anyone built a higher gain Dumblish two el84 amp? I think that would be awesome..
Cheers!
Please suggest me a design

I'd suggest Randy Fay's Daisycutter - he was nice enough to share his design over at AX84, where you can search for the threads that discuss the details.
This amp is an improvement over the typical 18watt design - Randy spent a LOT of time tweaking this thing to get a respectable hi-gain sound out of the EL84 buzz-bombs, and I think he should be congratulated on sharing the results of his efforts.
Here is the schematic, but you really need to look over at AX84 to get the details, including some turret board layouts that others have done with Randy's circuit (Phaez amps are true PTP):

Doug Hoffman's Stout is well worth considering.

O funky tone control. Never seen it before, wonder how it is.FYL wrote:Doug Hoffman's Stout is well worth considering.

Sounds great. The PI section is even funkier: the out of phase side returns to ground thru the 47K bottom R, creating some nice imbalance...O funky tone control.
The Stout growls like a good 18 watt, then goes from nasty to BAD.

Randy does make some great sounding amps.

The Stout looks awesome!
That may be the one!
It is an unusual 18 watt design
Have you built one? Do you have a layout?
