Quinn183 6L6 tones

Post by Mr Dumble »

For anyone trying to build something like this beast, it is one hell of an amp. It should sound something like this.

Its the smoothest amp I have ever owned. PRS into amp, Trex roomate in the "loop" (no Dumlator) and Mesa Cab G12H30s.

Mr.D

Just incorporated the 183 PI and presence into an old MusicMan RD50 that was gutted to clone from this thread:
http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1620

It had a Bluesmaster PI prior to today. Different V2 plate resistors...
Here is the outcome:

I heard 3 notes and turned fucking Politician v 3,000,001 off.

Who cares...
Please understand that IMO an answer to this question is of no practical relevance at all. - Max

Just a question from the dumb and tasteless contingent - if you wanted a 183 clone with 6L6s couldn't you have just rutubed your first clone or is there some tonal reason that I'm not savvy enough to understand why you needed a whole new 3K amp for this ?

Different transformer and a few other changes as well. I wanted both amps seperate too. the 6L6 is going to be a 1/12 combo which I need.

PI and presence are like 183 now in this clip. V2(OD tube) is not the same - 120k 180K plates. 2 x 6L6. MusicMan iron. Nice sounding amp.

Thought the same thing, it's worth 3k for me to change a few resistors.

Next amp, which will be even sweeter and smoother, is to go with a #183 4-6V6 amp. 8) .
