Merlin's Spark Gap

Post by surfsup »

I just finished building Merlin's Spark Gap. It's pretty cool! Not an amp but there's a couple tubes sprouting out the top! Anyway, for any fans of Merlin, that guy does great work. (btw, in the keeping of my theme around here "you're making it harder than it has to be"....I built it on perf board, ouch...haha) Now its time to focus on the X10 and Eagle Supre...

Very tidy. How does it sound? Interesting idea that one.

Here's a link to it.

That looks so cool. I must try it. It that were me, I think I'd want to put some kind of cage on top of those bottles. I get a little rough with my stomp boxes at gigs.

I posted a layout for the larger enclosure at AX84 and also a photo of the top and underside of my perfboard if anyone is interested.

If you use my layout, be sure to move the knobs a bit south from the tubes. they are a bit close. Not unusable, but there's plenty of room. Looks great with the tubes lit up by LEDs at night.

Very cool indeed. Now I have a use for all of those damn 6AL5 tubes in my box of misfit tubes.
