1X12 Speaker for Express

Post by Randy Magee »

I am planning on building or purchasing a 1X12 cabinet for an Express... my question is do I want a closed back or a ported cabinet?

That has more to do with what speaker you choose and room interacithan amp choice.

I like the way a sealed or properly ported box hits VS open back. To me open back is fine at low volume, but the rear wave can have odd interaction at high volume.

All a matter of taste.

I would say closed back. The Express doesn't have a very prominent bass, like a 100 watt Marshall for ex. So the closed back helps.
