Ampeg B15 layout and cabinet plans

Post by oldmacman »

Hi all,

I recently finished up an Ampeg B15 build in an old 100W PA head, and it sounds great. In addition, I built a copy of the '70s Thiele cab that these things came with based on photos and info I found online.

I figured I'd share my layout and cabinet plans -- I always see people asking about building bass amps here, and this is a straightforward build with a satisfying result. If it's not enough power, it's easy to make it 100W by moving from 2 to 4 output tubes.

In addition, I included a list of errata I found in the Portaflex project in TUT3. While it's a useful guide, there are several significant mistakes.

Enjoy!
Ben

Thank you, sir. Info on those cabs is hard to come by.

Hey Ben, did you document the amp build?

I would love to see some pictures of the amp and gut shots.

That sounds like the perfect studio bass amp.

Don't let that smoke out!
