Re: Phoenix amp
Well he put 34s in it vs 6l6s and it sounds just amazing already...
He wants more from it volume wise so its still in the tweak phase but
holy cow it sounds just fantastic and Ive only heard the first channel .
Its very Marshall~ish but way more and then some on the first channel alone.
I can say there is alot more going on then a few parts changes and he has done a tremendous amount of burning of the midnight oil to get it going so fast.. There is so much going on inside these they cant be rushed and Im fairly impatient myself but these type beauties cant be slammed together and even if they could you still have to tweak everything by ear anyway so there is where it takes time and thats that.
To hear it live from what it was though is quite amazing.
I was pining for a od100 but I think I just forgot all about that amp..
This amp is quite neat so soon as he says its done we will get the clips up and they will be in 5k from a cannon eos 7d so the audio will be better then anything yet to date.
The video of course is 5k but you tube or vimeo will still do 1080p so
more to come very soon.
I would say right now this might just be THE perfect club amp
it sounds just well like BUTTER...

Re: Phoenix amp
Sorry guys, I can't post gut shots.
But I can post some clips of the outside.
This is an Ultra Phonix style amp, based on a Dumble modded Fender Ultra Phonix I had the pleasure of getting intimate with , but with some of my own added tweaks and circuitry, and added switches for tone shaping.
Since the amp started life as a Bassman 50 and it has an unused 1/2 a triode after V1, I utilized some tweaks I was inspired by Tommy Cougars "Mother" amp.
It has a 3 button Ftsw for the following:
Ch. 1 has a Ftsw'able PAB
Ch.2 has a Ftsw'able PAB
Both channels are voiced different and both Ch's have a different style PAB
And a Channel Select Ftsw
Bias Test points on the rear with a Bias Pot.
It can run either EL34's or 6L6's via rebias.
Right now it has EL34's in it.
