Eric Clapton Dumble - pic included
Hi, a Facebook friend of mine managed to get a pretty good shot of Eric Clapton's backline today. I was surprised to see a Dumble on there! What's the story with this?

Look how the master volume dial is set.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Possibly using the efx send as a line out to some other amp / power amp?10thTx wrote:Look how the master volume dial is set.

Or he only uses the OD channel?

Somebody needs to get with Clapton and show him how to setup a Dumble properly.
That master can't be right. Somebody must have turned it up after the shot.

Not so fast there... Since that amp is likely to be a HRM, and as a result, likely to have have two master volumes, it is conceivable that this is the setting he plays at. Also see my comment above.
Except for the clean master, this is how I typically set my controls as well on my HRM. At that volume level it sounds absolutely great, I am not surprised to see those settings.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking HRM. I didn't see another master pot on the amp pics in the other thread. I did go back and notice that you postulated that is was an HRM. Having never played one myself, you certainly know better than I.
Re: Eric Clapton Dumble - pic included
No worries, with the clean MV setting to 0, the amp is muted, I see why that can be useful too. Switching guitars, no noise between songs, etc. Especially with an amp that has great clean to mean accessible via the guitar's volume on the OD channel, I can understand why someone would choose not to use the clean channel.
Or someone just turned the mv down to mess with us.

So, is there a second master on that amp? If so, where is it?
Re: Eric Clapton Dumble - pic included
The tweed has a cable to the input and no mics placed.
The dumble has no cable, but mics placed.
I highly doubt that any tech on that level is going to set an amplifier for live performance without actually running a signal through it.
This leads me to believe that this shot was taken prior to a sound check.

I like the way they decoupled those two amps from the floor, floating them on a platform with a layer of (high density?) foam underneath. Slick.
