Question about bias, relation to volume/signal through amp

Post by dmnnmd »

is it normal for my bias amperage to jump up almost double what its set at with no signal, as i play guitar through it? jumps up more and more as i turn the volume pot up. could it be something to do with how the test point works on the fender hot rod deville, or is that just how bias works?

thanks all!

That's how it works. You set the plate dissipation at idle to ~70%. Current increases as you play louder.
