Re: Another Small Special build with a twist
English is fine (me being non native speaker and even worse writer )!
Haven't tried that yet and I (would) concur that it doesn't do anything in a sense of NFB (but I think it still works as an output filter). However, I don't yet have the knowledge to confirm neither.
Anyway, I hope to have some time today evening to experiment more thoroughly.
Whatsoever amp sounds great to my ears and whatever mod I would do I will make sure it is switchable, so I can always go back and forth in a flip of a switch.

Re: Another Small Special build with a twist
Alrighty - stupid mistake - flipped OT primaries and was creating positive feedback
Now works as expected - with current values of the resistors it is much quieter than without the NFB and frequency response, naturally, is different.
I wired it on a switch since it sounds great without the NFB as well.
I might play with the resistors (i.e. put a larger one) to decrease the volume loss and since I have few rotary switches around may wire few different capacitors to play with the frequencies.
Updated layout and thanks EaNot Made me read and learn some more. Great forum this is.

I have a Watts 17 1/2" chassis that I will try to stuff it in to. Might consider reverb and an effects loop as well. As with all my builds, it will take a while. Thanks again for the layout.

Yes, it's a cool option, I used it too.Synchu wrote: I wired it on a switch since it sounds great without the NFB as well.

Any ideas for adding reverb to this circuit?

Re: Another Small Special build with a twist
Got my PT, OT, and choke today. I think I will use the 15 1/2" chassis instead of the 17 1/2". Looks like everything will fit without any problem.
Re: Another Small Special build with a twist
Just tack on a 1-tube reverb. There are some schems in the file section.RockNRollDr wrote:Any ideas for adding reverb to this circuit?

As for reverb, I was thinking of adding an FX loop and using the digital ones, which to my current experience, I find a bit more consistent.
However, in my next (planned) build I will do a tube one and will decide. It is a relatively easy mod.
15 and 1/2" chassis should be fine depending on the PT. Mine is quite large through hole lay down (on the wider side) type and would have been very tight in a smaller chassis.

Re: Another Small Special build with a twist
Small Special, ala Synchu, started. I went with a 2.5" X 8" X 16" chassis. A bit of a bummer cuz now I have to build another cab (I have a combo cab that the 15" chassis fits in).
This is my first return to MC iron. I thought it was kind of light duty when I bought a set a year or two ago, but I see so many folks use, and like them, that I thought I'd try again. The price is also attractive. Dirty Dawg chassis.
Should I start another thread, or is it OK to camp out on Synchu's?

Looking good telentubes
I have this same iron and thinking of doing this amp.
looking forward to your progress.
Thanks

Looking excellent!
Here in Europe getting a different iron than Hammond is almost impossible (at least very expensive with shipping costs and import duties/VAT).
Or at least I don't know of any ClassicTone, Heyboer or Edcor distributors. Sowters are almost out of question price wise.
Otherwise, I think this topic is more than capable to host more than one build
