Has anyone got a schematic for this bass preamp?
And if someone has built a clone and has drawn layouts etc. I would be VERY interested.
Thanks!

Thanks! I'll have to look for that!rp wrote:
I'll see your Camel and raise you a Caravan, In the Land of Grey & Pink. I was listening to this last night. New to me as I normally run away from things tagged prog but this isn't prog in my book, just good crazy British rock, wish I'd found it much sooner.

Hi!
I recommend you to connect pot wipers to grid stop resistors.
Other than that, schematic seems to be correct.

Re: Unused triode -> Treble booster
Yeah, I know it will never sound just like RM.
What I'm looking for is the midrange/upper midrange honk that good treble boosters produce.
Maybe I should have been more specific...

Re: Unused triode -> Treble booster
Thanks for ideas!
I compared this boost-circuit and a rangemaster clone. Rangemaster sounds fatter.
Then I increased plate bypass cap to 2,2nF. That fattens up tone but it's still not enough "middy"...

Unused triode -> Treble booster
Hi! I have an amp which has one unused triode. I'm going to use it as a treble booster. What would be the best way to make it sound like rangemaster in front of amp? At the moment it has 68k + 68k at plate (split load, output is taken between those resistors), 6,8k / 0.22uF at cathode and 1000pF pla...

Re: Liverpool swirl sound
I had a same kind of swirly overtone in my 18 watt TMB - amp.
I got rid of it by installing a snubber circuit in OT primary. No loss of highs, only that swirly "zing" was gone.

Re: DIY Airbrake...
Hi! I built an Airbrake clone without rheostat and it sounds pretty good. Only last two clicks starts to bring some "fizziness" to the sound. Does anyone else have same problem? I read somewhere that someone put a zobel filter to his Airbrake to tame fizziness. Has anyone tried a cut control ála Vox?
