I just added a demo video link for the amp, if anybody wants to hear some of the tones out of it. This is not a high gain amp, and is really more for Blues, Country, Jazz, and some types of Rock.

Re: 2 watt blues express variant-first build-demo video added
This is a Hammond 125C Universal OT. Its rated at 8 watts or so, so it was pefect for this amp. Im not sure about the voltage requirement.El_Martin wrote:Hi!
Nice amp. OT looks familiar to me. 100V type?

Re: 2 watt blues express variant-first build-demo video added
Very cool man. Looks like that was a PITA to work on, being so small. Todd Yep PITA basically sums it up. The power section didnt fit, in the way that I had originally layed it out to fit. Actually if not for divine intervention of rotating the board 180 degrees, I would have had a serious road blo...

Re: 2 watt blues express variant-first build-demo video added
Also I was so worried about posting in an intelligible way, that I forgot to comment on the sound. Well there is plenty of clean headroom for recording. The cleans are very Vox like, and are chimey, but not sterile, or cold sounding. I get break up with my strat after 1/4 rotation on the vol control...

Hey Im a noob around these parts, but recently I embarked on a tube amp project, and as such I signed up here for advice, pointers, and to do the appropriate amount of research required for a successful build. I was going to build the 2 watt blues express amp posted on this site, but I ended up foll...

Re: Perf board for an amp power section?
Hey thanks everybody for your opinions on this subject. I ended up going the safest route and used non copper padded or regular perfboard. It worked out fine. Thanks for all the input.

Perf board for an amp power section?
Hi I am wondering whether or not using perfboard that has the copper pads on it would be a good idea for the High Volt section of an amp (filter caps and such). Im not sure what those boards and copper pads are rated at volt wise, and I dont want to cause a potential area of burn.
Thanks again
Thanks again

Re: Noob question about a pre-amp socket center shield
I've only ever seen the centre shield tied to ground once, ever. It was on a croc-skin Selmer T&B mkI head. You can ignore the centre shield on a 9-pin socket, or tie it to ground for a convenient spot to hook up the shield on shielded wire runs to the grids. Great thanks so much....this forum has ...

Noob question about a pre-amp socket center shield
Hi Im just wondering what to do with the center shield on my 9 pin tube sockets. Can I ignore it? Should I use them? Should I pull them out? If I need to use the Center shield, how do I use them......Im guessing they get tied to ground somehow.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Noob Question about a pilot lamp
Hello, At last! A question I can help with. ( I think). Yes the pilot lamp will only use what it needs. The 3A rating on the power transformer is for how much current it can produce safely. So, you are ok loading it UP TO 3A. Even with that there is usually a little wiggle room. JB Ok great! anothe...

Im new to this forum as well as new to tube amp building. Heres my question, I have 2 secondary heater filament wires running off of my Toroidal power supply. Re: 2Watt_BluesExpress_Version1 by timohp
hi andy, i'm a noob too, but this is a pretty serious question that you're asking - doing away with the power transformer means doing away with the galvanic isolation that could protect you from shock. in what we (biomedical engineers) call a primary fault condition, you could end up directing the ...
