Re: Cap across PT Secondary..
Meh, can't wait forever.. I did both, 1st across the Secondary and together with Caps in parallel with the Diodes. I'm running a Two-Phase Rectifier with 2-pairs on IN4007's in Series. I recorded the noise without, with and with all and looped the recording, and with my dog ears  I noticed the ...

Cap across PT Secondary..
Old topic I'm sure, but I can't really find a definite answer for a Tube Amp..
I have a 2 phase Rectifier. The Schematic has a 10n Cap across the Secondary for noise. Okay, cool, but I have a pack 20!
Is there any audible benefit to also running them in parallel with the Diodes??

Thank you.
Everything I could find pretty much reflects what you said except for the rolling off of the high end.
Electronic Forums talk about using a FBD on Motors or Solenoids..

This other Flyback Protection..
Instead of 3-1KV Diodes like in a TW, there's 1-3KV, cool. But then there's the addition of a 47pfd Cap across it.
What does the cap do in this arrangement?

Re: Output Transformer Impedance Mismatch 6L6 to KT88
I found a great post on the subject from Wilder Amplification back in 2009. https://www.marshallforum.com/threads/various-power-tubes-impedance-info-charts.17125/post-184531 "To find the "rough minimum" plate-plate impedance I square the B+ voltage, then divide that by the plate dissipation rating o...

Output Transformer Impedance Mismatch 6L6 to KT88
Probably another Topic cover many times, but lets keep it alive! :D My next project is building a Deliverance (60) clone with a JCA50 Chassis and Transformers.. I've really flip flopped on the Power Tubes I'll use given the original iron was meant for 6L6's.. A big part of that sound is the authorit...

Re: 6L6 vs KT66
Would I use the same Screen and Input Grid Resistors from the 6L6 when switching to KT66?
The amp I have uses 470R for the Screens and 2.2K at G1..

I switched the Preamp Tubes to Baldwin labeled Sylvania's with the Fane Speaker.. More rich, less pointy..
I think I like these better..
