Re: VOX AC15 [JMI] Replica Layout and schematic

The amp I am working from is a chassis only of a Faun-era amp that was found in non-working condition in the back of an electronics junk shop. I would not be surprised if it has been monkeyed with. Thanks to everyone who has contributed and especially Torg.

Re: VOX AC15 [JMI] Replica Layout and schematic

Here is the picture of the .047 uf cap 42 on my amp. It is exactly like caps 32a and 32b. This cap type doesn't appear in Jim Elyea's Vox book so maybe it is a replacement.

Re: VOX AC15 [JMI] Replica Layout and schematic

Here are some photos of how the brilliance switch and channel II volume are wired on the amp I have access to. Also a very crude drawing showing the wiring of the switch.

Re: VOX AC15 [JMI] Replica Layout and schematic

Also, the amp is actually owned by forumite Loctal, who has graciously allowed me to borrow it and help get the AC15 layout documented.

Re: ef86 sockets

It seems like you need some weight under the socket to properly decouple it from the amp chassis. I've seen some very cool shockmounts in old Tektronix gear where a square of board material was suspended about 1 cm under the chassis with 4 pliable rubber spacers at each corner in place of springs. T...

Re: 5B6 started

I want to revisit the 5B6 and do it EXACTLY to Tino-Z specs with the Weber iron Mark used. I think my chassis and iron were too big.

Re: What are these French-made capacitors?

Merci Leo! I have a bunch of them. They are pretty gunked up with what is hopefully just solder flux but they all seem to test out to spec with my DMM. I guess they'll look magnifique in some PTP fuzz pedal builds.

What are these French-made capacitors?

These are pulls from an old Bogen PA. Any idea what they are?

+1 on the Dan. Just found out they're coming to PDX today. The lead dress on that amp looks great!

New Express Build and a question about heaters

I'm getting started on an Express with the Heyboer PT, which as we know requires two holes for the leads as opposed to the one hole used in the original. My question is, am I asking for trouble placing the heaters in a straight line directly from the PT lead hole closest to the center of the amp to ...
