Re: 1964 Vox AC10 just purchased and very noisy and new speakers?
So I tried to tackle the noise issue with help from ChatGpt? Chat GPT had me put a 47pF cap between the sleeve and ring lugs for the input jacks. I tried it in 2 and had no effect. When I plug a guitar cable into one of the jacks the radio station plays on either channel including the one channel th...

1964 Vox AC10 just purchased trying to remove RF interference
I just bought a vintage Vox AC10 on impulse.(paid way too much :( The amp cosmetically looks clean as a whistle. Inside some of the electrolytics have been replaced everything else is original including the speakers. Almost looks like it has never been used. the amp is a little noisy and I am pickin...

Jazz/Rock switch 124#
It has been around 10 years since I built my #124 Since that time I have gotten away from amp building and have forgotten a lot. I fired up the 124 and noticed the Jazz/Rock switch is up/down. I was reading the notes on the amp and this is described as having a middle position, I am wondering If I i...

Re: Best Wire to use for AC
I have some solid core ptfe 20awg I got from apex JR I have no doubt it can easily handle the 12o V from the IEC jack running to the switches and fuse my concern is the shielding on that wire is so thin won't that necessarily lead to increase interference created by the AC current passing through th...

Best Wire to use for AC
Hi
what wire do you guys recommend to wire
from the IEC internally to the fuses and switches in
an amp? Since it is carrying AC should it have thicker insulation?
18 vs 20 gauge? Recommended supplier?
Thanks

Re: vintage 1967 deluxe reverb filter caps?
I biased the amp to -35v as per the suggestion on this video
Is that the correct value?

that will be my next job have to order some more caps.
just curious what happens if you use cap rated at higher voltage thn need but the correct capacitance value. Don't plan to do this but have always been curious about this

Wow, so I changed the power supply caps and bias cap,
I am not sure if its my imagination but my amp sounds at least twice
as loud
Everything feels tighter. Cant believe I waited so long to do this.
What a no brainer!!

Re: vintage 1967 deluxe reverb filter caps?
Do the earlier versions before AB763 sound different ? would this still be considered the typical blackface circuit I know around the time this amp was made was when CBS took over and they were heading towards silverface era?
Thanks!! I am always amazed how much information you guys know!!
