Re: Guitar Gallery Thread! Post 'em up!

Yes they are. My parents ordered a me a left handed Stratocaster for Christmas, 73. It didn't arrive until 74. I was 15 and had been playing for a couple of years. By my second year in college I almost had a fretless guitar. Being a poor college student, I told the luthier, give me the highest frets...

Re: Guitar Gallery Thread! Post 'em up!

Here's my latest FrankenCaster. Walnut front. Mahogany body. Figured maple neck. Scalloped fingerboard. Still thinking what next. I'm leaning towards a pearloid pickguard with either EMG pickups or Lindy Fralin split rails.

Re: 13 years?

18 years for me. I need to get back more often. I just discovered HAD passed away. Now I suppose it is time for me to build a clone in his honor. It also brought back a memory. Around the time I joined I was working on modding a customer's amp and was trying to get it finished by the next day when h...

Baxandal tonestack values Ampeg V4 vs SVT?

Is there a difference in these tone stacks? Is the SVT tuned an octave down or some variation on shelving?

Re: I inherited this amp. Suggestions?

Hi Tommy! If the caps are original, and somebody wants to play it rather than just look at it, then it needs new electrolytics. But, you could try bringing it up very slowly to reform the caps: Put a 100k 2W resistor between the rectifier and the reservoir (first filter), which will limit the curre...

I'm going to tinker with it, and probably hold on to it (but let my kids know its value).

I inherited this amp. Suggestions?

I inherited this from my father-in-law. Marshall JCM800 1982 anniversary series. I need to make sure when I fire this amp up, I am not destroying it or it's value. I can do the light bulb limiter thing, but if I do a cap job, will that diminish its value? Would sticking Solens in it hurt i's value?

Re: I'm thinking about buying a modeling pedalboard.

Another one if you want to test the modeling waters without spending too much money is the Hotone Binary Amp. You can find these used for under $100 and they are pretty impressive. I bought one and was so impressed that I said well if this is low end modeling, I want to see what the high can do.

Re: I'm thinking about buying a modeling pedalboard.

I ended up springing for the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx III and FC-12 foot switch. Life is short and I am old. Got to enjoy it while you can.

Such sad news. His incredible generosity certainly left his mark on me. He will be missed.

Re: WHICH MORGAN AMP??

That EF86 channel in the AC20 is pure magic. I've never played one, but the first time I heard a video of it, my jaw dropped. Apparently the guys at Fractal Audio thought it was special enough to model for the Axe-Fx III. I believe that is the only Morgan Amp they modeled.
