Re: Eric Clapton Dumble - pic included
I doubt seriously EC is actually there during a sound check.. All the monitors are checked for him by someone he trusts and probably walks on stage plays a few notes sets his levels and off he goes!! Tony Live Nation having someone contracted for several hundred thousand dollars a night to pl...

Re: Eric Clapton Dumble - pic included
The tweed has a cable to the input and no mics placed. The dumble has no cable, but mics placed. I highly doubt that any tech on that level is going to set an amplifier for live performance without actually running a signal through it. This leads me to believe that this shot was taken prior to a sou...

Re: Les Lius Clone Build - DON'T HATE!
No need to go nuts just because someone else suggested something. Instead of addressing my post why don't you post a suggestion that will actually allow him to get more volume from the circuit instead of gain. Your suggestions were basically agreeing with half of what I said in different words foll...

Re: Les Lius Clone Build - DON'T HATE!
Could you please help me make this sound more tweed You shouldn't have to play around with biasing this circuit - it is a self biasing arrangement, changing those resistors will alter the character of the circuit and may make it more or less "tweed" Isn't that what he asked for? Paper in oil or aud...

Re: Les Lius Clone Build - DON'T HATE!
That layout doesn't look like the schematics I have seen for the Les Lius. Infact, this genius decided to put mismatching info (including the more than likely correct schematic and the layout that you posted) here: http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.com/2012/01/lovepedal-les-lius.html I could write a hu...

Re: Weber kits for Tweed Deluxe and Bassman?
I would say the only good thing about a weber kit is the chassis and speaker. Out of the half dozen cabinets I have bought from them over the years, every single one showed up with splitting tolex on the corners and a bad grill job after waiting 2 months for them to show up. For the money, you can p...

Re: Today we are talking about... chassis specifications
If you are making a custom chassis with a cnc cutter, you can always go this route: http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/alum2.phtml?page=channel&LimAcc=%20&aident= You can get several chassis out of 12 feet at around 20 bucks a foot raw material. If you put the time in, you can design something uniq...

Re: Oh! IC
Not so fast. There are many types of components that are made in DIL packages aside from your normal/what would pop into your mind at first glance "operational amplifier". Single/dual Op amps are most common in the 8 pin DIL, but if they are color coded, it's probably for a reason. I would suspect O...

After a half hour conversation with the owner, he is standing pretty firm on no gut shots.

Yeah the Holy Grail caps should have been a hint that it was a C'lator. Regardless that is a nice build. You made it your own. I was checking out Dorkbot. I see they are a Portland based robot group. James Neal aka "laen"l from Dorkbot pcb broke off and started a new company a few months ago at thi...

Re: Just completed my #183 clone, wa-hey!
I would warn against using those little bourns .5 watters and use something rated 1 watt for those trimmers on the OD and PI plates.
