Re: Newbie needs BIG help please

Keith, I`m with you Bro, tonight with all Mullards in the wreck it kicked ass at 11 o`clock on the volume. I changed the .022`s out to .01`s on the bass and mid control, and removed the presence knob and bright switch. BIG change that sounded nice. Lower mids were fat and no ice pick highs, just the...

Re: Newbie needs BIG help please

Pete, I was searching on Rectifiers and came upon this thread again. Have you made any progress in your amp quest? I am curious what you have decided to build :D Let us know.... Hi Keith, thanks for remembering me. I got a Ceriatone Wreck clone and got Moose`s tranny`s for it. I used that Duncans t...

Re: Interested in having cabs built? I need a rough count.

Bob Burt makes some killer hardwood cabs, and will take on any project, but the price may be a little steep for a DIY amp. My friend the cabinet builder thinks he can build them for $150 using cedar. Flame and quilt we`re unsure of the pricing, but looking into it. I`ll post some pics when I get min...

Re: Interested in having cabs built? I need a rough count.

I was wondering the same, as I`m waiting on a cab from a retired cabinet maker friend. Mine will be made from Cedar so it should look and smell really nice when the tubes get cooking. That is one sweet looking cab you got in your avatar, I like the combination of the different woods and how you spac...

Re: KT66`s in an Express clone?

Awesome! Thanks for the input. I wasn`t sure if the bias could go low enough with any 6L6 type tube, but now I feel safe. I didn`t care for the 6V6 sound that much, but now I`m gonna put in some KT66` and 88`s and try it out. Did the 88`s give a little more headroom before breaking up? I`m real curi...

Re: "Speakers for a Dumble" Thread

Weber 1265 alnico - I like these. I used them for a while. Real sweet.... I need to put them back in my 2X12 and get to know them again. Maybe a bit bright if memory serves me correct. [/b] Hi Scott, I heard your clip at Weber`s site with this speaker and it sounded smooth as silk. I bought one bec...

Re: Lower mid pot frequency

Thanks again for all the help, especially the note about the Duncan tone stack calculator. Please keep in mind I am modding this amp for my own use and not to get the exact TW specks. For the tone I like I did the following: Removed the bright switch Changed out the bass and mid caps from .022 to .0...

Re: Head cab?

I ran this by the guy who is making my head cab for me, and he said he could make it out of any type wood I wanted. :D When it`s done I`ll post some pics, and he wanted to know if there was any type of demand for these as the 1st is always the hardest, and it`s a piece of cake after that according t...

Re: the BEST Trainwreck kit!

I agree. Plus there is no one who does an entire kit out of the box. You can get most of the electronic parts from a combination of sources, both big boys such as Mouser and Allied, as well as smaller ones, some of whom are on this board. For the more unique components (perf/turret boards, chassis,...

Re: Lower mid pot frequency

Thanks for the help guys. Gearhead, I too have a Fuchs ODS30 and love that fat sound with the midboost. It seems to boost the lower mids in the 200-500hz range, and thats what I`d like to do with my Ceriatone Express. I know on my Fuchs the mid boost is on the treble pot, and looking at the Express ...

Re: the BEST Trainwreck kit!

I just finished one and got it without the trannies or tubes as well. Cost of the amp with shipping was about $450 and Moose`s trannies were about $125. Considering I paid over $2K for a 2Rock Ruby a few years ago, I feel like I stole this one, LOL!

Lower mid pot frequency

Anyone know how to lower the frequency level of the mid pot on a Ceriatone kit? It seems to work on the high mids and I`d like it to adjust the lower mids. Any mods for this?

Re: Ceriatone Express has landed

Cool! I just had the same experience with Nik. Great guy and one hell of an amp! I got my trannies from Toneslut and the amp just rocks with Mullard EL34`s and JAN Philips 12AX7wa`s. I`m waiting on my cab now, and it can`t come soon enough. Wait till you hear it, it sounds awesome! Good luck.

Re: Head cab?

I was looking for the same and found a diagram here on the dementions and I`m having a cabinet builder friend of mine build one for me. It should be done in a couple weeks and he`s making it out of cedar so it should be light and smell good too, LOL! If there is a market for them, he might be intere...
