Re: bassman 6g6b ohm question
so 16 ohm with my 8 ohm cab gives me 5.3 ohms- right? which means less volume and detail loss- yes? better for my amps output transformer? I tried the 8 ohm load and noticed less volume and less high end. the output transformer stayed cool to the touch but the load I made ( 8 ohm 100 watt Xicon resi...

Re: bassman 6g6b ohm question
thanks for the info - i'll try a dummy 8 ohm load in parallel with the speaker cab tomorrow and see how it sounds. I've used my bassman head for years with the mismatch but never felt comfortable about it.

my bassman head is 4 ohms, I only have 8 ohm cabinets - can I add a 8 ohm dummy load to the external speaker jack- with the 8 ohm cabinet connected and get a 4 ohm load to the amp?

Heater wiring question
about to build a mojotone brown face deluxe kit. My question is I usually twist the heater wires but I have a Morgan AC20 amp and noticed he doesn't twist the heater wires? I was thinking of giving this a try but like opinions on noise issues without twisting the wires? thanks for any input.

Re: Black Face Bassman Head problem?
Yea it is bigger in size but not that much- I was messing with the value because I have the bass channel set up as a Marshall 2204 layout. I had both channels going through the one input cap but split it to two caps - one for the clean normal channel (.001) and one for the bass channel Marshall side...

Re: Black Face Bassman Head problem?
Thanks I didn't know that- has to be something else then. Update I'm an idiot sorry guys - I had replaced the PI input cap with a huge Value 225UF and it was the problem- the stk value is 500pf which I had moved up to .001 and some how put in a 225uf - going blind in my old age. Put the right value ...

Re: Black Face Bassman Head problem?
you're right it is a AB165 that was converted to a AA864. It was converted years ago by me and I did many gigs with the amp since then. I only have the DVM. I did check the tubes again (cleaned the sockets to). Then I measured the Filter caps voltage- one of the 100uf caps in series measured 234 vol...

Re: How to calculate Voltage? Help
@jamme61 - what John and Martin said. The equation V = I x R (where: V = Volts, I = Amps, R = Ohms) reworks to: I = V/R (when solving for current) or: R = V/I (when solving for resistance) Since each factor (I or R) can be solved with the product (V) and the other factor (R or I respectively), then...
