Re: Impedence Switch Question

I'm not concerned with the label. Just want to make sure that everything is correct technically.

I guess I'm just being paranoid. I test the switch for continuity prior to installing the OT wires and the swich positions corresponded to the wires it pointed to.

Impedence Switch Question

I finished my Express (wired not tested) and as I was going over the connections and labelling the back panel I noticed something. From the photos an actual Express had the impedence labeled 4-8-16. I'm using the same switch from the build checklist and I wired the switch exactly as the diagram show...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Finished! Well almost. I'm waiting for my faceplate before I install the light. I opted for a jewel light and it's pretty big and a PIA to get in and out so I only want to do it once. In the meantime I'll go over all the solder joints and make sure I have everything right. I need a little break from...

Anyone have an Express faceplate template?

I would measure it myself but the amp is almost complete. My original intention was to get the standard wood faceplate, but now I want a custom metal plate. I plan on using BNP Lasers and she needs me to send her a template. If someone has the measurements or a template they could post or pm to me I...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Thanks but I want to complete it this weekend. I only bought the switch because I was following the BOM. Anyway, I think I got it. By jumping 5/9 I was able to get a close circuit (not sure what you call it) with my meter on the 4/8/16 lugs individually while the other two read as open. For some rea...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Ok, final plea for information and I'm done :) I have the same impedence switch as suggested in the BOM but my common lugs are not in the same position as the layout. I have 1/7, 2/6 and 3/5 jumped, but just need reassurance as to which two common (rear) lugs to jump. These would be located on posit...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

I don't think you'll need the ground lug unless you aare gonna isolate that jack. There's a thread here somewhere where some( Paul ruby being one) claim grounding to the chassis alone is not safe. I figured it can't hurt to add the ground wire. Here's the quote: "It is a serious safety risk to omit...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

I forgot I had George L cable from my pedboard. I think this will work perfectly. Let me know if this is wired correctly. I added the ground which I will connect to one of the board lifts. Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Is this it? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062643 I would use it in a pinch. Twist the center conductors like you said before and move forward. You can always go back and retrofit later. That's half the fun with this hobby/obsession... Enjoy, but be careful. D Thats the stuff

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Does radioshack have video coax style stuff? The only thing they have is what I described. It's shielded. Does it have to be that specific coax? What do you think would be the result if I used this stuff? Problem with ordering is that I would like to finish this project this weekend and I really do...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Ok, so I'm almost done but the rga174 cable is on back order. I went to radio shack and bought shielded wire and wanted to know if this would be a suitable replacement. 24 gauge Shielded Stranded 2 wire Type CL2 Insulation thickness .25mm Temp rating 60 degree C I was thinking of just twisting the 2...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Please keep asking questions. The reality is that most of us here expect people that work with a soldering iron, to be able to read a schematic and test basic stuff. Sounds like you are cautious, no worries. Understood. Since I don't have formal education on the subject my knowledge is spott...

Re: Starting my Wreck board and I have a question

Holy crap how is it possible that you can build this amp if you can't even follow the wiring diagram for a power transformer? Mark Common sense, patience and knowing when to ask questions. I already built a JTM45 and it came out great. Even did a number of modifications to it. The layout tells you ...
