Re: One of the last Quinn 183s made.

Lets see the preamp board. :D Gooped. :P It seems as though it has less gain than both of mine, so it would be interesting to see what is different. It could be the pot taper is just different and makes it seem that way however. I have to keep both the pre and lead gain knobs quite a bit higher to ...

Re: One of the last Quinn 183s made.

Here are a couple of small pics I took. I found the amp has 1 mercury magnetics transformer. I know that is different than mine. I really hope to be able to purchase this amp at some point. :x Phenomenal sound. The push pulls are a PITA though. I MUCH prefer switches. [img:1024:403]http://i1353.phot...

One of the last Quinn 183s made.

I really hope Shad gets his act together. I was able to borrow this amp again from one of my employees who bought it from Quinn. I think I have posted about this amp before, but its exceptionally clear and articulate. More so than either one of mine or the actual #183. I am going to check, but it MA...

Re: Interesting ODS & Sundown Comparison...HRM sounds?

Nice tones from both amps! I had a Sundown years ago, and played one recently and could get nothing like those singing tones. I sold mine way back then because I was in rock bands, and always needed to use a DOD preamp stomp box to get stage volume overdriven tones. Strange. Yours sounds exce...

Re: Black and silverface cabinets. Plywood or solid?

Use a saw, and make a clean cut. That will show it better. And all the old cabs were pine, with particle board baffle boards, The thickness and method of attaching the baffle board to the cabinet changed over the years. But that is it. If plywood, then it is a repro cab. And it deserved to be sawn,...

Re: Black and silverface cabinets. Plywood or solid?

Could it be a reproduction cab? The amp is nearly 50 years old: it could have had a few different cabs in that amount if time. That all I could come up with as well, but the tube chart was still in there, and it sure looked original. I am tempted to take a hammer to one of the corners of my mint 64...

Re: Black and silverface cabinets. Plywood or solid?

Every BF Fender amp or speaker cabinet I have ever owned/own had/has solid pine cabinets. Except for the baffle boards and back panels. Thats what I always thought as well. This one was a 65. Its really odd. It was beat to $hit and you could see where it was cracked that it was ply. You could look ...

Black and silverface cabinets. Plywood or solid?

Pine or birch? I always thought they were solid, but I saw the corner of a BF twin that had the tolex ripped off and the corner was cracked. It sure looked like plywood to me. Anyone know for sure what they were made of? Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Two Rock/Dumble build parts list

To be truthful, I am more interested in building a Two Rock clone because from what I've played, the one channel models have an amazing clean and they pretty much stay that way, I agree. Two Rocks do have GREAT cleans. Much better than Dumbles IMO. Not sure how or why, but the Emerald Pros, Customs...

Re: SIMBLE PEDAL. BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT ONE

Thanks for a thoughtful response comparing the pedal into Fenders vs. D-clones. Yrs ago, I was considering a reverb pedal for an amp. So what I did was use a Princeton Reverb with the reverb on and then the PR with the reverb off and using the pedal for the reverb. I found that useful. I wished the...

Re: SIMBLE PEDAL. BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT ONE

Do you have a video that is the pedal into ONLY the clean channel of one of your D-clone amps? I'd like to hear a comparison of the amp's OD (no pedal) vs. the amp's clean plus the pedal. With respect, 10thtx I have not done a clip of that, but have tried it with both Quinns (6L6 and EL34) and the ...

SIMBLE PEDAL. BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT ONE

And its a damn good pedal! The best D style pedal I have tried yet, by a good margin. The lone exception being the mad professor Blue Sky overdrive, which was my favorite up until this one. they are quite similar, but this one sounds much "better" (Dumble like) through non D style amps, while the Sk...
