Re: Marshall class 5 crackling issue
I should note.. I've completely undone these changes while troubleshooting and the problem persists, so to me it sounds like something on the output board, since the only time it occurs when the mod is removed is when in low power mode.

Re: Marshall class 5 crackling issue
Thank you! I just drew this up myself to show what I did as the original post didn't have a schem to go with it.
I also just ordered a new 15ohm/25watt resistor, and replacements for c50, r51, and r50 as well just in case one of these parts are bad.

Re: Marshall class 5 crackling issue
I do have a 200v 15uF. Anybody know what c50 does in the circuit? If it wouldn't damage it I could at least find out if it solves the problem.

Marshall class 5 crackling issue
And it ain't the tubes.. It is modded with the 'orpheus' attenuator, just a single low ohms pot in series with the headphone out that when engaged (true-bypassed otherwise) uses the headphone amp to drive the speaker. This can be used in full power mode as well. Here's a link: http://www.marshallfor...

Re: Class 5 - Tone stack bypass and/or FX Loop
Hmm, might just be wiser to nix the tone stack in the Dr. Boogey, or at least to try that first. I don't use the DB any other way anyways, just want that gain.

Re: Class 5 - Tone stack bypass and/or FX Loop
Found a schematic finally - http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=33575 Just located the spot you mentioned between the Treble wiper and C21. I'm new to NMV amps, and didn't expect to be installing the loop before the gain stages. I'd expected it to be right before v2. Is this so that a buf...

Re: Class 5 - Tone stack bypass and/or FX Loop
Is a passive fx loop as easy as patching in a couple neutrik jacks before the power section and grounding it somewhere? Argh, can't find a schematic right now. I'll see if I can dig one up later so I can figure out where to add it.

Class 5 - Tone stack bypass and/or FX Loop
I use a Dr. Boogey pedal (mesa-ish FET preamp) and it sounds great into the loop return of most amps, driving the power section and I'd like to use it with my Class5 better. Is there a way to bypass the C5's tone stack? Or would it be easier to add an FX Loop return? If so, how would I go about doin...

Re: JCM900 conversion...?
Nice! And thanks for that.
I'm not interested in a plexi (got a class5 and that's close enough at the volume I need it for) but this gives me hope. I'm gonna have to take some time and really do my homework of course

Re: JCM900 conversion...?
Er, no. What I really want is to be able to get both tones and ideally I'd have both amps. I'd settle for the ability to modify it back and forth to suit my current need.. but what I'd really love is to be able to swap out the 900's preamp with a JCM800's at the flick of a switch. Hmm......... I gue...

JCM900 conversion...?
I've heard people talk about this and have been wondering about it... I have a JCM900 4100 (dual reverb) that I love, but since I don't have the money to buy a second amp I was thinking of tearing out the guts and converting it to a JCM800. I know I can do the work, but this is just me looking into ...
