I never knew they were equivalents to 6v6s! Do you still get similar headroom with them than you would EL34s? No, they break up pretty easy.... if I dime the master and have the bright and normal off, then dial them up I can get them to about 4 then they break up. But it’s pretty loud at that point...

These 6aq5 are supposed to be 7pin equivalents to 6v6 tubes... there is a schematic on that link
With randall’s Schematic the only thing I needed to tweak was the bright cap to suit my ears.

What’s the story on this amp. Is it yours? Or are you just fixing it?

Lol... oops those are 5881’s.... actually they sound quite nice, so I kept them, but changed the plate
resistors from 1k to 470ohm
Don’t know If it matters or not.
