Re: 220v to 120v
If you have two hots and a neutral available then a 4-pin 240V outlet will allow you to use 120V or 240V off the outlet depending on which connections you make in the plug. It would be very easy to make a 4-pin 240V plug to 3-pin 120V socket adaptor lead which uses one hot, the neutral and ground, b...

Re: 220v to 120v
Yup. You need a step-down transformer designed for running US equipment in Europe since these are 220/240 -> 120V.
For example, see the Step Down and Autotransformers section on the Hammond site:

Re: Rocket Speaker recommendations...celestion blue vs gold???
I run a pair of Golds and love them. A slightly different character to Blues but a great sound with this amp. I'd love to try a pair of Scumnico's too at some point but would need a spare cab as I'm changing nothing with this one!

You've got no excuse not to get another album out now! Lori sounds amazing, especially on the cleans on the Strat, and I really love the fullness in the low end. It's big but not bloated sounding, so really well balanced.
I'd be happy with either of these, but Lori is really something special.

Re: cap foil direction
On some caps it represents the outer foil. On other caps it doesn't mean anything, which is why it's better to test them yourself unless you specifically know that the caps you are using are marked properly with the outer foil direction.duka wrote:Does mark on caps outer or inner foil?KT66 wrote:Here ya go :

Re: Good Quality 230V solder iron/station needed
I found a solution that I wasn't really expecting... a battery powered unit. It's not equivalent to my shop solder station but it's more than adequate and actually holds a charge long enough to solder up a complete preamp board. It uses four AA rechargeable batteries and the charger works on 120-24...

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Mark's 100W Marshall with an Express front end was awesome, and the same mods would apply to a 50 too.

Wow I thought everything was going to 230, 240 is better for me Cant you guys make up your minds ! LOL  I still see people measuring 220 as well I have a tap that works perfect at 235 so I guess I'm in the ball park John Despite Europe deciding to harmonise on 230V, certain countries (like the...

It's kind of funny how you have to be an industry 'professional' to contact him and yet he's not professional enough to even use an @roccaforteamps.com email domain.
I don't foresee this new take on the website being a particularly successful way to sell amps.

Re: Elevated 6.3V AC supply with 6.3V DC regulated supply?
how do you get enough voltage off of a 6.3vac centertapped transformer isn't that only putting out 4.41vdc after rectification? Use a bridge rectifier across the entire 6.3V secondary (ignore the centre tap) and then you have, in theory 8.9Vdc. Use diodes with very low forward voltages, a large cap...

Re: express external bias-pot option question?
The only thing I'd really say is that, compared to a trimmer, potentiometers are generally very easy to turn, which means that your bias could get messed up very easily. If the amp is going to live inside a headshell where the pot can't get knocked then it may not be an issue but if you use a standa...

Re: Friedman "Naked" Amp - Ideas?
I believe the Naked is a Naylor preamp of some description into a Marshall power amp.
You might start looking in that direction, or see if Dave will do you a mod to get to Naked kinda specs rather than buy a full amp.

Re: Software to draw chassis
I draw all of mine in CorelDraw since I've been using it for decades now and still love it, so it's just the easiest thing for me to use. I have a great 3rd party DXF export tool from Leonard CNC that produces really good DXF files that I've never had a problem getting anyone to manufacture from. It...
