Bob, no worries. I figured that is what you meant by the comment. I just used it as an chance to send the evil eye out to the profiteers who want to take but not give anything back.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Yeah Tony, I think I did. I don't have my notes with me but when I get home I'll see what I got and post it.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Hello, I watched the Kenny Wayne Sheppard video and I bet his amp is very similar to the circuit we are exploring here. As I stated before the amp runs pretty hot. I looked at my notes and I think it was running at about 17 watts per power tube (use JJs!). I was not concerned with output wattage, so...

Re: NOS Sprague PS Dark Sounding?

Steve, I am very sorry to hear that. A piece of aluminum with some tubes sticking out of it doesn't seem very important when you hear about someone going through that. I got home ready to start pulling things out of my amp and decided to spray a little Deoxite in my female to female adaptor I use to...

Re: NOS Sprague PS Dark Sounding?

Thanks for those suggestions Tony. I never thought about the cap across the 220k resistor. I think the plan is to carefully re-check correct wiring and good connections per the layout, swap out the .1 NOS orange drops with new ones (the ones I got did look a little beat up), and then changing out so...

Re: NOS Sprague PS Dark Sounding?

Thanks Tony. Wow, Steve I would love to take you up on the 2-35 pot and resistors. I will PM you to discuss that further. I did do a two way bright switch with a 100pf and 300pf cap and it does definitely ups the treble. I especially like the 100pf with the deep switch on with the Strat. It just see...

NOS Sprague PS Dark Sounding?

Hello, I just finished building a Low Plate Classic and it sounds good but it is kind of on the dark side. I used new components except for the .1 coupling caps. I bought a bag of NOS on Ebay and used those. I guess I didn't like seeing CDE on the side of my caps. I read a thread were someone said N...

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Hello, at the time (about two years ago) I documented the amp I was very careful about reading the caps and getting the values correct. My notes say that it was a .002uf/630vdc.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Yes, two 100 ohm and one 50 ohm in series. I think the amp Robben Ford used was another Dumble take on the Tweed Deluxe but all 12AT7 preamp tubes.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

I think in this amp maybe a little edgy or bright wasn't a bad thing. The player was using a Les Paul and wanted it to rock. PS series maybe a little to round sounding. I don't know if you can see them in the pictures but it also had 1.5k metal film grid stoppers on the power tubes.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Oh don't worry. It wasn't my 7K. If I had that I would replace my old rusted out Izusu Trooper.

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

Caps 716 series. This amp came around a couple years ago and since I am already going to Dumble hell, I better keep ownership and location a mystery. 8)

Re: Any interest in seeing some Dumble Tweed Deluxe photos?

I like it because it makes me feel better about using Teflon wire in my Low Plate Classic build!
