Ok so getting back to this amp and still need help.
More info.
So like I stated there is no TR2, no R35 or 36 as they are jumpers.
The gate of what would be TR2 does go to the jumper that’s in place of R35.
There is also no D1 .
Thanks in advance for help.

Re: OT mounted to speaker
When you see 4 wires going to the speaker then two of those wires are as RG posted, high voltage DC to make a magnet.
This was done before the times of permanent magnets like Alnico became affordable.

You can run any amp with a tube output stage with no load on it and suffer no problems, just don’t pump any signal thru it!

Re: Extension Speaker Cab question
Running a mismatch ( 4 on a 8 for example) will also eat up your power tubes faster and change the overall frequency response at the extremes .

If you don't have it yet or even more so have not played it yet then why are you looking for mod's right off the bat?

Re: What do you think causes pins 2 and 3 to arc in octal sockets.
I think it's also due to the ac filament power. Pin 3 is highly positive D.C. Pin 2 at a rate 50 or 60 times a second goes from being positive ac to zero and then that starts the attraction of D.C. Then pin2 then goes highly negative in relation to the D.C. Polarity of pin 3, so even a higher level ...

I don't know if you have ever heard it, but the tremolo on a Vibrochamp has great depth also .
Change out the caps to slow it down more and pop in as strong tube and your in love!

Re: OT Primary Question
I don’t understand chancing running the 6K6 outputs.
The difference in the output wattage between these and a 6v6 with cathode bias and in push pull will not change the SPL of the amp by much if that’s your main goal.

Re: Replace overdrive pedal with real tube?
Since your now unused tube is somewhere down stream of the first gain stage of the amp if you implement what your thinking of doing you will more then likely have a oscillating monster on your hands, especially if you only use one section of that tube since that will change the phase of the whole am...

Re: Illinois brand capacitors still bad?
Don’t forget with these great little testers to discharge the cap before testing.
My co worker killed is tester 3 days after he built it with a charged up 450 volt cap.
You need to confirm after discharging that there is no more voltage left in the cap then the battery that powers it.
