Re: Steve Farris ODS #075
Max, The RF clip you provided was good but I do like Doug's clips better. It's a rather hard comparison because of their different playing styles but to me Doug's clips seem to have more sing to them and obviously more crunch. I really like the clean tone as well, it sounds very much like my twin re...

Re: Steve Farris ODS #075
I really liked the tone on those Doug Doppler clips. Is it common for most models to have that type of OD? I think I have finally been convinced to start a Dumble type build. I don't really like the usual RF/LC stuff but this amp would be a great place for me to go circuit wise. Does anyone have any...

Re: How do I add a line-out?
Thanks guys, I'll give those links a look. Basically I should be shooting for about 2v into my effects then?
So on the JCM800 the DI on the back is a line-out? I've got one of those and never really thought about what that jack as for.

How do I add a line-out?
Is there a formula to use or is it just a basic circuit that works on most amps? I would like to try a wet/dry setup but I don't want to fry anything.

I would really appreciate if someone could send me the files too. I lost mine when my computer crashed
Thanks,

Re: Cabinet construction - clamps
I think one of those would work good for the mitered corners on an Express style cab. Seems easier than that band clamp thing I used.

funkmeblue, do you have any info on that combo in your post? What are those controls on the back?
Thanks
Thanks

Care to elaborate on those mods? I've got a deluxe that I was gonna start tweeking with as soon as I get my express all buttoned up.

Re: express build: weird voltages
Yep, right under my nose. Thanks for pointing out my newbie mistake  . I even measured it with my meter and still didn't notice. I would have probably stared at this thing for another day until I rebuilt and noticed. Thanks to your eyes and experience, I definately learned a few things on this...

Re: express build: weird voltages
Here's a shot of the PI and caps, do you guys see anyhting obvious? Earlier, I disconected the presence pot and put in a jumper from the tail to ground... nothing.

Re: express build: weird voltages
Well I think all my grounds on the PI are good. I used the typical ground buss on the pots and star ground for the filter caps just like the layout. I even went ahead and reflowed a bunch of joints but that wasn't it. I don't have the diode string on my power tubes, would that have any effect? I was...

Re: express build: weird voltages
For some reason the plate resistors are only dropping 5v not the 100v that they should. The 82k I got was actually 8.2k so that is now 100k, not that it really matters. I checked the presence pot and resistor and that seems fine. FWIW all my voltages are just a little over (5v-10v) what the voltage ...

express build: weird voltages
I fired up my new build and voltages seemed to be ok until I got to the PI. Here's what I got on V3 1-337v 2-1v 3--5.5v 6-341v 7-1v 8-5.5v I did a quick measurement and when they looked really high I shut it down and changed the tube. We'll needless to say that didn't help. There didn't seem...

Re: Film Resistor Question
I've suffered the same problems with other builds, even lower gain amps, so I know how you feel. I tied lots of resistors without an ounce of improvement. Trying lots of tubes was my only help. Is there anything layout wise that can be done? Goodluck and keep us posted on anything that does or does ...

Re: Turret board material...
I read that he doubled it up to get it to thickness. I would think that two layers would be stiff enough.
