I thought 10K was the grid stopper of choice on an Express. As far as I gather K.F. preferred no stopper, but that didn't work out in many cases so he used the 10K. Ah yes, that is something that is not well understood by those unfamiliar with ODS. More clean volume means more overdrive, since the "channels" are cascaded. #124 sounded nothing like Robben Ford to me, I changed mine over to #102 specs and it's a lot better in that respect. If you're after the early 'talk to your daughter' tone I'd go with the bluesmaster. His sound now with the #102 is not like it was on that album. Have a listen to some of the demo's...
