Maybe some more pictures will help figure out what this thing is for.
PA?
Guitar Amp?
I'm curious why it would have 4 inputs but only 3 output sockets?

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
Well it might make sense if this was something that I will keep running into, but most of this is a fluke. Once the batch of stuff I have is gone, I don't plan to seek this stuff out again. While it could be lucrative, I have no passion for it, so it won't be much of a hobby if I find it annoying an...

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
Firestorm, RP, thank you. That is exactly the information I am looking for. I have too many amplifiers sitting around as it is. I'm trying to flip this stuff without better history I don't know who to point it at. Sadly I have called every music shop and tv repair shop in my area and no one has the ...

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
Those two tubes seem oddly generic to me.
That's why I said "It just seems oddly generic considering all the information you guys have put forth and what I have been finding on my own."

Pictures!
OK. I was able to get the monster out of the box without breaking anything. So here is the list: 4 Black RCA Radiotron tubes; Sn7 6SJ7 GF6 6SJ7 1 RCA Radiotron tube with 83 in a stop sign outline. 1 KenRad K9R with 80 in a stop sign outline. Stancor transformers: 1 P-4024 1 C or G 1402 1 A-3802 1 A-...

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
Aren't tubes supposed to have more information on them. Aren't manufacturer and year codes supposed to be printed or stamped on it somewhere? Cause I can't find any other numbers on them. It just seems oddly generic considering all the information you guys have put forth and what I have been finding...

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
What makes you think they aren't the new tubes in the packaging? They don't look like air has gotten to them and the estate they came from has...tonnage of music gear and electronics. So the 6550 tubes were replaced by more powerful 6550A tube design. Who would want the 6550's and for what purpose d...

Re: Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
One more thing. I also picked up at the same time as these tubes another pair of amps. One is an Epiphone Pacemaker. It's cool, but someone had put a new speaker in it. The speaker is obviously from the late 80's based on the font and advertising value of the full print decal covering the speaker ma...

Sylvania 6550 tubes...information
Hey guys it's me again. I finally got that big monstrosity from the other pictures into the garage. I'll be starting another thread on that thing once I get it out of the box and I can take more pictures of it. This thread is about a pair of vacuum tubes I found. Sylvania 6550 MJ / ABB. You'll see i...

Flipping
Well sorry to say but the bulk of the old mics are already flipped. Unless you count 70's and 80's as old. I still have the bulk of the mics from those decades. Most of them are xlr3 Shure and Electro Voice and realistic. Guy from Tennessee hit up my craigslist ad as he was driving home from Ohio an...

Magic Smoke
Sure I understand. I'm comfortable with my understanding of magic smoke. I've got experience with electronics. Mostly modern, but the principles are the same. I've gotten all the amps working and they sound really nice but for the El-Bee. It has a rather significant buzz that stays prevalent no matt...

Even more stuff.
So a second trip has hauled back even more old amp gear. I'm having a hard time finding information about this stuff. First there is a Multivox-Stradolin 554 amplifier. El-Bee Two-Fifty amplifier 1972 Harmony model h1722. I found this on blue book but no idea what it's street value might be. A KMD G...

Re: Help Me identify this "THING". Thanks
That had to be one crazy stereo.
The thing is massive and weighs 50 pounds if it's an ounce.
It's easily a home made box but the thing inside is stamp cut steel I'm confident.
