Re: Blackstar HT Studio 20 Bias Setting?

procedure on this amp is to read 12v on the cathode resistor, which is 220 ohms.
then you can balance the amp at full power, checking with a scope that the clipping is symmetrical

Re: Amp advice/procedure for help questions

i always proceed to clean jacks and pots first, countless times i found they were the main problem, once those are ruled out, rocking and thumping of the chassis to find any intermittency, then all the rest you listed, cheers

Re: F*cking clients

next time just tell him "come back in 4 months then". If he doesn't come back in time with all the money, sell it,you can't afford to lose money to serve parasites. i always make a test in front of the client, if approved by him, then he can't complain later, amps get bad even after one week,especially...

Re: Best standby switch wiring in 2204

you can wire the standby to the screen grid line only, that is much less stressful on the contacts,Peavey used to do that

Re: 5E3 clean headroom

you can play humbuckers like old style pafs, which have less output and not so mid heavy like modern ones, but you still need to adjust guitar volume and play with the amp 2 volumes, once you turn up the unplugged channel it can clean up a bit. Anyway,it's an old debate, many think that it's the volume ...

Re: Sporadic relay failure anyone?

if the controller has not enough current to drive the relay directly it is really possible to have malfunctioning.
In my experience it is always better to activate the relay via a transistor or fet, which is turned on by the controller.

Re: Benson Monarch

I haven't measured voltages yet, but this is for anyone who needs a schematic for repairs or servicing. And the Dizzy Bird reverb unit. Thanks, Aaron looking at the Monarch schematic,if you bring down to zero the reverb pot you get zero volume,i guess there should be a resistor in line. The Vinny m...

Re: 5e3 stopped working - blows fuses

Use a lamp bulb in series with primary, secondaries disconnected, you can't get any conclusions with an ohm meter.
