Re: Drill Press
Yes be careful about the fiberglass dust if you are standing over the boards and drilling with the press. Where a mask and try and stay outside with it and or get a dust collection system. I use this here from homedepot and I run it with a shop vac on my CNC that cuts the boards. You could just run ...

Tomorrow I do the heaters wiring, finish the mid boost, and then tests shall begin!
Fred
I also like having the Variable negative feedback pot on my builds.
It lets me dial in the sound I like.
Cheers

I guess it's been debunked that they will be building anything at scale. https://youtu.be/u9pWr3EkVK8?si=-kjIEjnTwF3IqS03 Side note, Guitar World really prioritizes click bait headlines and shit journalism, huh? They just watch YouTube videos and report on the videos without digging deeper to verif...

Re: Low Plate Classic Upgraded
Looks beautiful Tony. Congrats!
Low plates are always my favorite sound as well.
I really like those large green resistors for the cathodes, I have never seen those for sale before.
Cheers

Re: New amp break-in/ repair stress-test procedure?
I also run a similar procedure as beasleybodyshop does on the last 60+ new builds I have done. I like to calculate power by seeing where the sine wave starts clipping as my signal generator runs signal into the amp. This burn in test is done only after I have ironed out any errors and inspected ever...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
Oh BTW..Carlton used the Sovtek's  The Winged C's will also handle the 700. (IMO Wing C's a better sounding tube but mo expensive) Larry Carlton uses Sovtek 5881's and JJ ECC83s fwiw- Robbens amps had JJ preamps, one had the 5881 output tubes, one had either Svetlana's (Reflektor prod.) or wi...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
You’re very welcome for the pics, Dan! Glad I could contribute something to the forum. Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I’m gearing up for my first ODS build with a 100w 2nd Gen using old Peavey Deuce iron but would definitely be interested in building something like 178 next. Has anybody ever...

Re: What do you think of the Fender Jack White Pano Verb amp?
Nice to see Fender doing another tube amp design.
I like the old Jenson speakers.
Its a different sound that's for sure.
Very glassy sounding but that seems to be Jack White's style and he seems to make it work well.
She is a heavy one at 61lbs, but he never needs to worry about moving it lol.

Thanks for posting these picks Dan. Those are Svetlana 6L6GC power tubes. I have a set in my basement that are an exact match to those in your photos. The gold print on the tubes in your pic was the give away! Its seen in the 2nd tube from the right in the 4th pic you posted. The construction of the...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
I've been giving Charlie's comments a bit of thought, and thanks so much for sharing that info. By understanding HAD's naming conventions versus what we call things here, maybe we can better understand his approach to various amps, guitar styles, timbres, etc. I've seen it said here many times that...

Re: Reverb Circuit on Wonderland/Fender 75 advice please
Hi, change your reverb send pot to 1MA and place a .002uf cap across your 100K reverb return pot and see if you like that amount of intensity. Cheers G [/quote] Thanks Guy - this did the trick. I haven't felt the need to lift the local feedback yet, Paul. I did try parallelling a 200r resistor with...

Re: Manzamp Build: Hold My Beer... I'm Goin' In
Manzamp build time! I'm gonna try this... It's gonna go a bit slow by my standards... Be patient please. Let me know if you see anything wrong before I get too far ahead of myself. I have a Tweed Bassman chassis and board ready. Designed it with info from here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic...

Re: Reverb Circuit on Wonderland/Fender 75 advice please
Hi All First post here - I am in awe of the knowledge and generosity here, and a little apprehensive to ask my questions as I am very much a newbie to the dark arts of amplifier building. I have converted a Fender 75 amplifier to a circuit that closely follows the JM Wonderland amplifier. I have us...

Re: Tim Pierce and ODS #178
Hello Guy :D Good to be back with you guys here. I don't know about it being a Skyliner stack? Sounds more Marshall/Bluesmaster esque to me (Scooped mids) givin the amps settings. Maybe CW can opine? Tony I think you are correct Tony, I edited my post before I saw your post, I was reading your mind...
