Transformers
Although we choose to not be "in the parts business", we would gladly sell output and power transformers for Amp Garage Wreck builders if anyone is interested. $ 100.00 power (dual primary) and $ 100.00 for 2 X EL-34 outputs. Heyboer built, heavy duty mounting hardware, Fuchs part numbers, usually i...

As it's not exactly a trade secret, I felt I'd share: In lieu of messing with AC hum balance controls or lead dress, since we don't use the 5.0 volt winding on the PT's we buy, we voltage double it and use a packaged 7806 regulator. Mounting on the aluminum chassis saves heatsink cost, and all three...

Do you have a 470-Pf cap from plate to cathode on the reverb driver tube ? Sometimes the reverb driver circuit (especially) can oscillate on transients.

Actually Gary, there are a few variants of the SSS out there. Some versions use actual SVT iron and boards in the power amp, some use the Fender Super-Twin style 180-W output stage. There are also some versions using 7247 preamp tubes, and one reputedly using a pentode too. Since most everything HAD...

Re: A few suggestions
Diode and capacitor across the relay coil, very important. Make sure any signal capacitors NOT being loaded have a small resistor on them (1-M, 2-M, 4.7-M) to ground. Andy, evidently success changes people... You've made it big to where you even think of a 4.7Meg resistor as small now! :D Gil No Gi...

A few suggestions
Diode and capacitor across the relay coil, very important. Make sure any signal capacitors NOT being loaded have a small resistor on them (1-M, 2-M, 4.7-M) to ground. Put a 22-M across the relay contacts as well. If you need a diagram, send me an e-mail. Assuming nothing is oscillating or unstable, ...

According to a few people, the ODSR that Carlos has rented for many years, from a friend of Gil Ayans (a guy in LA) there's only one ODSR that sounds as good as it's non reverb counterpart, and according to Gil, "the entire board is glopped". Rumour is, Santana's ODSR is a claimed to be a perfect cl...

Hopefully, my final comment on this.....
While I appreciate the kind words from many (Bob especially), I do want to clear up a couple of things: While my amps share similarities with Dumbles, my personal feeling (and that of those who know the innerds of my stuff), I don't build "clones". There are more differences than similarities IMHO. ...

I'm far beyond it mattering to me or my business, as far as posting people's pics. It was an observation about amplifier build quality that I thought I could contribute to. I didn't post any malicious comments about the pictures. They were for informational purposes only. I don't build point to poin...

Howdy folks
A friend pointed this thread out to me. I did respond to the e-mail invitation to join the forum and/or visit the site, but time does not always allow. Our business has grown in size, is relocating, and requires a lot more of my attention daily than the internet allows. To address the questions: We ...
