OK, My caps came in and I went ahead and did what Martin suggested and soldered the 22u cap across the R3 resistor. That did make a small change in bringing out a bit of the bottom end. Thanks everyone for your help and input! What I have already done to tame the high gain is to replace V1 with a NOS RCA 12AU7 long black plate.
