Re: Cleaning Phenolic Boards
The correct cleaner is MG Chemicals anhydrous alcohol 99.95% http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?SKU=6610002&MPN=824-500ML Stay away from Flux off, it contaminates and causes problems. Better is to leave the flux there or use the anhydrous. Denatured alcohol sold in hardware stores i...

Re: Anyone use teflon wire
You can use standard strippers but they have to fit perfect and be sharp.jcr1234 wrote:I have been thinking of using teflon wire in my next build because the insulation is thinner than pvc insulated wire and if you bump it with the iron it wont burn.
Is there anything I need to be concerned about?

Re: problem with marshall clone: presence control HELP!
I've tried a lot things, some with sense and others (I admit) with no sense, but really this issue is driving me crazy: - I changed presence cap - I changed 0.1u PI caps - removed feedback - I removed 47pF cap between anodes of V3 (PI) - Moreover I did some other tests on output tubes section: I re...

Re: Marshall Bluesbreaker problem
Hello guys, I got on my bench today a reissue Marshall Bluesbreaker. When it came to me it was losing all power after it had been running for 10-20 minutes. First thing I checked was all electrolytic caps. All elytic caps tested OK. Next I replaced 3 potentiometers volume 1 and 2 and bass. The old ...

Re: PCB Design Software for Tube Amps?
I downloaded the free version of Eagle and quickly drew up a 5f2 Princeton schematic and board. This looks like it might be a winner at the low, low price of $1500 for the full version. I'm going to have a couple of these boards made and see how they turn out (and how much I have to learn). Anywho,...

Re: HAD is alive and well and policing ebay....
Don't blame HAD. He is obligated to protect his trademarks or else lose them. Use of his name for keyword association to inferior products dilute the value of his name. Do you know for a fact that his name is trademarked or copyrighted? You stated trademarks, as in plural. What other item of his is...

Re: PCB Design Software for Tube Amps?
Has anyone gone there yet? I'm looking for some good, tube amp ready, PCB design software, and I'm willing to pay for it. Does anyone have any experience with the good stuff (no Express PCB). I want Gerber files for output, not some sort of proprietery thing. I'll second WWW.CADSOFTUSA.COM (Eagle) ...

Re: SS Gain recovery?
You should add a cap to limit the low frequency amplification. Add a cap in the feedback to limit high frequency amplification. Small value cap at the + input to ground to help with any RF. Series resistor of about 2K at + input to prevent any static shock damage unless there will be no connections ...

Re: SS Gain recovery?
You can also use a 12V to +-15 DC to DC converter if your 12V is already regulated, Piece of cake. No resistors

Re: SS Gain recovery?
Hi guys, working on the last touches of my build. I have it set up to true bypass the tonestack, but when I engage the tonestack, the volume loss is rather dramatic. I knew there would be some volume loss, but not this much. So I wanted to put in a little SS gain recovery between the tonestack and ...

Re: Channel Switching?
drz, What is the "secret"? I'd love to make this better for myself and my customers. ampdoc1 No real secret you basically mute the signal at the phase inverter for 10ms just before the switch and releasing 10ms after. Boogie has a patent on one way LOL. This basic idea has been done in mixing board...

Re: Flux
I had to touch up some solder joints on a lead free amp. I originally just tried to re-flow the solder on the socket pins. Man, that stuff turned into a grey crusty joint. So I tried adding some 63/37 solder to it..... Must be a trick to touching up lead free solder joints. :? Some will tell you th...

Re: Channel Switching?
It been years since I've opened up a boogie, but they used to use standard Vactrols. I'd bet they don't want to talk about it because they are not compliant, and Boogie sells a lot overseas. I've been building and selling a 3 relay board for a year or so, mostly for D'Lite type clone amps. There is...
